Design - Using the very latest in computer aided design and a highly skilled workforce we offer the advantages of data transmission, modelling, digitized information and reverse engineering.
We boast a highly experienced team of CAD design engineers that work very closely with our clients designated project managers to ensure complete success.
We offer a bespoke manufacturing service that is second to none.
CNC Machining - Our Milling section is operated from a direct network link from our designers to our shop floor computers where the highly skilled machine operators create their own machining programme. The CNC milling machines operate at extremely high speed and our highly experienced and efficient operators use the latest software and controls to ensure a premium finish to all machined parts.
Accuracy and fast turnaround to exacting tolerances are a trademark of Petford Group and of course fit to our customer’s budget.
We heavily invest in our own machine tools to maintain our position as one of the top leading toolmaking companies. Our largest machine, gives unlimited weight capacity and movements.
Sparking - Our bench section is supported by extremely skilled Toolmakers who work from our Dudley site, or at your specific request, can work within your premises. This unique integration between both companies allows us to ensure the very best service with minimal downtime and costs.
Spark erosion capacity ranges from 1m to 2.5m tanks. Our spark erosion machines use the latest pulsing technology to ensure fast and efficient form erosion.
CAD/CAM programmes can be downloaded to facilitate any profile on any of our CNC lathes.
Finishing - When our moulds leave the milling section and have their guidance fitted, our bench hands have the facility of a bedding out press to achieve accurate shut outs and shear edges.
Once bedded out, tools are transferred to the bench where they are finally polished and fitted with the ejection. Assembly of hot runners and hydraulic air cylinders comes as the last task prior to product testing if requested from our customer or direct delivery.
Injection Moulding machines with a range from 160 tons to 1700 tons lock.
Materials are delivered to the machines by a self-contained material handling system ensuring the polymer reaches the machine, dried, colored ( if required ) and fit for use. All machines are robotized with conveyor take off and have software capable of statistical control over the entire moulding process.
Moulding manufacture is enhanced with other processes including gas assist moulding, low pressure moulding onto carpet, cloth and TPO. There are additional value added downstream activities providing, ultrasonic welding, assembly, insertion and insert over moulding.
Complimenting base component production is the addition of chrome plating ( satin and bright ) and painting, both application techniques are to automotive interior and exterior standards, these processes are delivered by external preferred suppliers.
Materials - The plant is capable of converting most available engineering and commodity polymers. This includes materials having specialized additives for enhanced physical properties, protection and performance. Self-colored compounds and master batched additives are used to match customer specific colour requirement, consistency is achieved by the use of in line metering equipment.
Quality Control - Driving the business is the award of TS16949 accreditation. Employees are fully quality conscious and make active contributions to the business key performance indicators which are reviewed throughout the company at regular intervals. External audits are welcomed and there are dedicated internal teams which regularly audits various areas of the factory to ensure compliance to this exacting standard.
